What judges look for
Clothed and without oil, your reading of the body shows directly in the score.
- Assessment of range — what moves further after your work than before it
- Leverage — are you moving the body with weight and a fulcrum, or pulling with force
- Safe range — no joint taken beyond its range; do you wait for the client's breath
- Choice of depth — knowing where to go deep and where not to
- Communication — telling the client before you move them, checking for pain

Who this division is for
Therapists working clothed day to day — bodycare, relaxation, manual therapy. Stretch-led and pressure-led practitioners compete in the same division. No national licence is required to enter the competition (treatment at the event is a competition performance, not professional practice).

Chair Massage (Seated Massage)
チェアマッサージ(シーテッド・マッサージ)On-site massage
Chair massage treats a clothed receiver seated forward in a purpose-built chair, working neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands in 10 to 30 minutes. David Palmer of San Francisco, drawing on his study of Japanese anma, systematised it as 'on-site massage' in the 1980s and designed the first dedicated chair in 1986. In Japan, short seated anma and shiatsu spread at the same time as 'quick massage', and the two together underpin the championship's chair category.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I compete with a stretch-only session?
- Yes. The division does not prescribe technique. Stretch alone, or stretch combined with compression — what is judged is what reaches the person receiving it.
- Is there a dress code?
- The model is given clothing they can move in. You may wear the uniform you normally work in. See the competition rules for details.
